Mozilla Firebug - load times - optimization

What can be done to optimize the following site:

http://www.piratewear.com

I am talking mostly about making load times faster for images and other resources.

I will be working on making the images smaller...but are there other things I can do?

For example...are the images actually being cached right now?  How can I tell if they are or are not?

What else can I do to improve the load times of pages?

Is there any way you could combine all those css files into one? That's a lot of connections to make. The same can be said for the linked javascript files. It would be faster to download just one file. You could also move the linked javascript files to the bottom of the body if they're not required for the in-line scripts. The images appear to be moderately sized and will cache unless you configure them not to or the user has configured their browser not to.

Regarding the javascript / css files

Setting aside optimization just for a second....the reason I have so many files is organization.

Plus...not every client needs every file.

If I have just ONE file...then I end-up having to go through and comment out or rewrite portions of the file (so that what works with one client does not break the other).

Otherwise -- yes....that is good advice.

Get rid of webforms. Have you seen what an incredible long mess it sends to the browser in the _VIEWSTATE? And all those external javascripts that are generated automatically?

LOL

Can I program without webforms in ASP.NET?  I don't mind trying, because I agree 100% with you.
