could you copy all of the data to a text file, then reimport the data back into excel from the text file with the delimiter as a :?

If you are separating by colons then it's simpler to do that with "Text to columns" functionality

Select your column of data and use

Data > Text to columns > delimited > Next > tick the "other" box and put a ; in the box, and untick the other options > Next > Finish

regards, barry
Thats certainly easier than my suggestion Barry. didnt know they added that functionality :)
