Arcserve 11.1 W3831 Unable to find any that can be used in this job
My client is unable to complete their backups on a Windows Server 2003 SP2 running ca arc serve 11.1.
Problem only occured recently and I have checked the expiry date on the tapes and they are well within their expiry date (2014)
I have attached a copy of the log file. I have also tried formatting the type but same result.

Hi
The tapes are HP LTO-1 Ultrium 200 GB Model C7971A and the drive is a HP Ultrium 1-SCSI. Regarding the compression it has a message W3032 Compression is disabled due to hardware data compression. I was lead to believe the drives can hold up to 200GB of compressed data where as the total data being backed up is less than that.
The error message "W3831 Unable to find any that can be used in this job" only appears around 83-85% of the way through in sequence 2 which is during backup of drive E contents. How would I check if it is asking for another tape as the client claims they never had this error before until recenty?

look at the job log and find the time of the error and you should be able to see what it was doing at the time
have you checked the Hardware driver to make sure that hardware compression is enabled? if you need to test teh drive you can download HP Tapetools Here

first thing to note is no hardware compression.
