MS SQL 2008 R2 Installation - Collation Latin1_General_CI_AS is not selectable.

Hello Experts,
we used to choose the Latin1_General_CI_AS collation as the standard collation for our MS SQL 2005 installations. Now we started to install new servers with MS SQL 2008 R2 and we are not able to choose our default collation.

The new standard collation for SQL 2008 R2 is SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.
Is there a reason why our default collation for SQL 2005 is not selectable anymore? Should we use the new one? Will we get into trouble if we want to migrate our SQL 2005 databases to the new SQL 2008 server?

Thanks in advance and greetings,
Marcus

you have to select it from the same window above Latin1_general and then Accesn sensitive will give the Latin1_General_CI_AS. This is because this is a native collation the selctable list is SQL collations.

sorry for the wiritng errors:

You have to select it from the same window above list Latin1_general and then Accent sensitive tick box will give Latin1_General_CI_AS. This is bacause this is a native collation the selectable list is SQL collations.

Thanks for the answer. Is there a reason to choose the SQL collations instead of the native collation?
What are the differences?

Commented:
native collations are more compliant with other applicatione i.e. other databases, and sql collations are is said to have more performance.

Thanks for the answer. We will go for the SQL collation then.
