How do I remove MSExchange 2003 Std (front End) from a 2003 R2 Server?

Unable to remove Microsoft Exchange 2003 Std from Windows Server 2003 R2.

When i go through add/remove I get the error:
"0X8007202B (8235): A referral was returned from the server"

Any Idea's? It's just a regular front-end server. We do have multiple other exhange servers in the organisation
