Service will not start:  error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly

Good Morning,

We have a custom service that we install with our application.  The only problem is that after it is installed, it will not start, generating the error above.  I have tried to diagnose what the problem is, but can't seem to find any useful information as to why it is quitting.  I have tried the same service on a non "R2" 2008 server, and it worked fine.

The service works in conjunction with our web application; it updates the application's database to reschedule activities.  As I am not a programmer, I can't express what exactly it is doing.

Has anyone had any experience troubleshooting this type of problem, where there are so few clues?

Thanks!

check all event logs on server, also check if process you try to creates  any  log files

if your app is java based, uninstall all java versions, restart computer and reinstall java and app again.
or if you try chaning the port which your application uses that might help.

Question should probably have been placed into "development" section as it really had more to do with custom code than Windows OS.
