How to embed a flash video on a drupal page for firefox

I am trying to embed a flash video in a drupal page.  Using a WYSIWYG editor, I edit the HTML and embed the file.  To accomodate both Explorer and FireFox, I am trying to place the following tags:

<object id="christchild" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab" width="600" height="300"><param name="movie" value="christchild.swf" /><embed src="christchild.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"
width="600" height="300" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></embed></object>

But everytime I save it, it drops the embed tag - and then will work only in IE, not FireFox.

Any ideas how I can either:
   Get drupal to stop deleting the embed tag, or
   Insert the Flash in a way that drupal accepts and works in both IE and FireFox.

Hi mstoolmi,

Your input format filters will need to allow the tags, otherwise they will get dropped. Whatever WYSIWYG you are using could also affect this.

A couple ideas to get the brain bubbling:

Create a new input format at admin/settings/filters/list or configure "Full HTML" input format and make sure to uncheck undesired filters for that format. Try unchecking all of them to see if that helps, then start re-applying. Note that removing filters affects security depending on who's allowed to use those formats.

http://drupal.org/project/swftools (D6 only for the moment):
Allows placing simple stuff like [swf file="christchild.swf"] which gets converted into something similar to above what you posted

I hope that helps inspire something. :)

Perfect!

The problem was in the editor.  It was "verifying" my html, and removing certain tags.  I guess embed was one of them.

Thanks.
