AIX running Oracle. Users lost connection.

SOFTWARE PROGRAM ABNORMALLY TERMINATED.

Oracle had a core dump. Need help to troubleshot what cause Oracle to shutdown and users lose connection. Can anyone provide assitance??

Really only Oracle is equipped to decipher their core files.  Pretty much all processes will report themselves as "oracle" as that is the one executable.  Based on how the process starts it forks with a different name.

You want to look in this directory:  /usr/local/app/oracle/admin/MPO/bdump

That will have the alertMPO.log file as well as some other log files.  Anything you can find from around the time of the core dump would be helpful.  If you want to try to figure something out yourself, the alert log is the best place to start.

Ok, thank you. That bdump directory definitely helped! One more add on, are you aware of any links or docs for tuning oracle 9g and 11g on AIX 6.1?
