I have rpc over http working on a back end server. But now when I try to add a front end server in exchange system manager the option for setting a front end rpc server is greyed out.

How do I add an rpc over http front end server to exchange 2003?

You can only have one database on a front end server, of you have more than one remove one an you should be able to select the option for front end server.

A front end server should not have any public folder store, it can have one mailbox store but without any mailboxes on it (only if you are running SMTP services on it)
