Hi,

I would like to do a batch upload of excel/TAB delimited file in ASP.net. No. of records could be around 10000.
There would be a .NET page for uploading the file.
Below are things to be done in the upload process.

1) General validations of the columns value like empty, length , date format, duplicacy
2) Once all validations pass then insert into database.
3) Option to view the log of the uploaded file along with status of each record.

I am new to .net platform. Can you please let me know the best way to achieve the above by keeping in mind the optimization, speed and performance in mind.

Thanks

You can certainly use the project in SameerJagdale's link, but that is a rather old-style approach to reading a CSV file. The VB.NET group created a class that handles parsing of fixed-width and delimited files. It is the TextFieldParser class. Even though it is found under the Microsoft.VisualBasic namespace, you can still use it within C#--it is .NET after all. I posted an example of using this class in C# here:  http://www.experts-exchange.com/Microsoft/Development/MS-SQL-Server/Q_26703218.html#34431727
