freeware OCR that reads in jpg, tiff & PDF format to convert to MSWord


Anyone know of any freeware that reads in softcopies of jpeg, tiff & PDF
to convert them to editable MSWord (Ver 2003 MSWord is enough)

http://www.onlineocr.net/ is an on-line service that converts documents.  It is free for upto 15 documents an hour

Here are two free OCR packages:

I can't attest to their quality/accuracy, as I've been using non-free OCR packages for many years. But since they're free, give 'em a spin and see if one works for you. Regards, Joe

One other thought on free OCR. Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) is bundled with Office 2003 (2007 and 2010, too). Here's a link to some good info about it:
