Hi,

I'm unable to install the following update KB2538242 to my Citrix Presentation Server 4.5. The update was pushed out using System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3. I've tried downloading the update from the Microsoft website and installing it manually but this hasn't resolved the issue!

Can you check the following folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\.  This is where the Windows updates files are kept.

Hi,

You need to have a look on update log to find out what the real problem is. If you are not familiar with this, here is how, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902093

Can you remove all the files from the SoftwareDistribution folder?  They are safe to remove.  Download again the software and try again.

Can you try again with the stand-alone package instead of Redistributed Package?

One of your screen shots is showing "error 1612".  Do you have the Security Agent installed on your system.  Please check this http://esupport.trendmicro.com/solution/en-us/1057454.aspx.

If you uninstall the previous version, please ensure that you clean up all the files in the Temp folder.

Do you have a link to the stand alone package please?

For some thing like that you have to contact MS support and they might be able to have such package for you.  If you have the license for the software, you should check with them.

This is a physical Citrix 4.5 Server uninstalling and reinstalling this software may brick the machine. Can you at least point me in the right direction as to what the software is? I'll have to present this fix before I make a big change like this. Also do you have an article of this fix where somebody got this problem before?

Would it not just be better to reinstall the Redistributed Package?

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5638 is the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86).

The Service Pack would not install for me because there was no way to locate a file called vcredist.msi

This is what finally worked for me:

Open Registry Editor, locate the following:

 HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\F942F94A19C0F79468FD2B85E5E8677B

and rename it to the following:
 HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\- F942F94A19C0F79468FD2B85E5E8677B

Exit registry and re-install the Service Pack:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=5638

You should now be able to install the Security Update and Windows Update will stop bugging you.

I do not know if I should go back to the registry and remove the "-" from the key, so will leave it alone unless I find something not working.
