Permissions regarding GPO's

Hello Experts

I'm getting the following error when trying to edit/change some group policies (please see the attached image).  I only get this when selecting the "Update Services Client Computers Policy" and the "Update Services Server Computers Policy" policy.

I have looked at the link below, but still experiencing this issue.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;828760

When I press the "OK" button this does not seem to rectify the problem that we are experiencing.

I have two DC's running Windows 2008 R2, one of them on Enterprise and the other is on Standard.  One of these DC's suffered a power outage and wondering if this could have something to do with it???  I do not believe I had this issue before, but I cannot be 100% certain.

If anyone could please let me know on how to resolve this I would be very grateful.

Thank you and looking forward to your replies.

As the KB article says

"This issue occurs because the access control list (ACL) on the Sysvol portion of the Group Policy object is set to inherit permissions from the parent folder."

Perhaps there is a simple way on resetting permssions/ACL's for the SYSVOL directory to what they should be?  I'm not sure what this would be of the top of my head, I also assume that this would have to be done on both DC's?

You can choose OK there but also check out this entry from the AD team   http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2011/08/26/friday-mail-sack-unintended-hilarity-edition.aspx#inconsistentgp

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you for the reply.  I've taken a look at the link that you provided, however I don't have the "Authenticated Users" listed in those GPO's at all.  I assume that no group/user should have the"list" permission?  I suppose there should be no "special" permissions for any users?

Hello,

Taking a closer look I did find the "Authenticated Users" listed.  After looking at the site a little closer... I was able resovle this issue with the instructions that were provided.

Thank you again for your post!
