POP3 & Exchange 2010

I have setup POP on my Exchange 2010 server and everything is setup correctly as far as I can tell.  I have matched my settings with my current Exchange 2007 server and that works great.  The issue is that I can not get POP to work.  The service is enabled and I have restarted the service but am having issues.  When I go to the command prompt and type:  telnet localhost 110 it comes back with +OK The Microsoft Exchange POP3 service is ready.  If I go anywhere else and type telnet servername 110 it comes back with 220 SERVERNAME Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Fri, 4 Nov 2011 10:44:52 -0500  The DNS entries are correct, POP3 is enabled and service is running.  The firewall is OFF on the exchange server.  I have also tested this on the same subnet as the server to see if that would be an issue and it provides the same thing.  The only time it provides the correct response is if I do it from the localhost.

Have you installed at least Rollup 3 for Exchange 2010 yet?  If not - then best install as it fixed a POP3 issue which bit me on the ass for 5 months.

Better still, install SP1 and then install SP1 Rollup 5

Currently I am at SP1 and Roll up 5.  This is a brand new installation so SP1 was on the CD.  So far I have yet to figure out why this is happening!  Any other advice would be great!  Thanks!

Okay - so if you try to connect from outside your LAN, do you get the correct response from your server using TELNET?

What Firewall / Router do you have and is port 110 open and forwarded to your Exchange 2010 server on the Router / Firewall?

This is all internal.  So, no firewall is in play.  We do not allow outside access to our email.

Okay - so are you trying to access this internally via POP3?

Yes, but pop does not work properly.  If I telnet localhost 110 it works.  If I do it anywhere else putting in the server name it gives:  220 SERVERNAME Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at Fri, 4 Nov 2011 10:44:52 -0500.  Local firewall is turned off.
Reset the pop3 connector and retyped in everything.  Rebooted the server and everything worked.

I accepted my own answer since redoing the information seemed to work.
