Difference between the sga_target and sga_max_size
Hi,
I will appreciate to know about this two parameters :
- The difference of each one.
- What they do each one.
- If i have set sga_target to 2 G and sga_max_size to 8 G, what is really the memory allocated by the SGA ?
- Does it matter to increase the sga_max_size but not to increase the sga_target ?
- I need to increse both parameters to have a better performance ?
Thanks for the help.

Maybe. Maybe not. It depends on where your performance problems are.
There is also a point where more memory will not affect performance.
A tuning strategy will help you figure this out.
