Does anyone know if there is a way to migrate the outlook 2007 preferences to outlook 2010.  This will be done after a reimage of the machine.  I am not talking about migrating the pst files.  I need a way to migrate the display settings, rules, etc....

If you are on an Exchange server, the rules are saved on the server and follows every client, so in that case you don't have to do anything.

If you don't have Exchange, you can export the rules from the dialog box where you are creating the rules. But you have to export the PST file first and import it in Outlook 2010, so all user-created folders will follow otherwise the rules will fail.

The rest of the settings is not so easy to transfer, as the rest is normally stored in the profile folder of the user and many features are not compatible with Outlook 2010, so better just start from scratch.
Forgot to mention the easy transfer wizard for xp can only transfer settings from xp to vista or 7 and xp to xp transfer is not supported. you need to use either file transfer wizard in xp or USMT.

we are using usmt, and it is on an exchange server 2003.  The rules are not saved on the server here, I assume because everyone is using client-side rules. as for starting from scratch, guess thats gonna have to do it.
