Error message when attempting to hide password

I'm attempting to hide a password with astericks when user is entering and I get the error message
"'PasswordChar' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox'."
when I add
<code>
 Protected Sub textPassword_TextChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles textPassword.TextChanged
        textPassword.Text = ""
        textPassword.PasswordChar = "*"
        textPassword.MaxLength = 10
    End Sub
</code>
to my aspx.vb file to handle input textbox textPassword
I prefer to handle password as a textbox rather than use the Logon control
How to get rid of the error message?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
