Access 2007 cut and paste from Memo fields not working in a Form
i'm using a simple form in datasheet view. i frequently want to type something into one row and copy it to several other rows. everything works fine except for one field which is a memo field. neither cut nor paste works. this is Access 2007.

the form already had those settings for that field.
is there a way to post files on experts exchange? otherwise, i can post it on my ftp site or email it to you.

Yes - There is a 'File' link under the comment textbox that you can use to attach a file to comments you are composing.

try this:
ftp://ftp.softwareregulatory.com/
username ee, password 12345
there is one 2007 access db there

Okay - how is the database responding on your side (error message, nothing at all, ...) when you try to cut/paste something in the Memo field(s)?
If you could briefly cite an example, that would help.
Things look a little quirky here, but it doesn't seem like an issue with cut/pasting per se. I just want to make sure we are thinking in the same plane.

nothing happens when i cut or paste. no error message at all. pasting into a new row does create a new record, but the memo field is blank.
Is your database still out there? I'm trying to test this from a different computer, and am having trouble logging in.
Is it okay if I (or you) upload the database to EE? That is typically how this is done so that all files are visible to anyone who wants to help. It does become and remain public at that point, however - so care should be taken with anything that is uploaded (no personal or otherwise sensitive data).

didn't like leaving the site open - i changed the password - figured you already had the database. don't know how to upload it to EE, but that's ok with me - i've already scrubbed the database.
I'll upload it from my other computer...
But just for your own reference, take a look under the box that you write comments in. On the left hand side, there is a paper clip next to a link labeled "File". Clicking that File link button is the first step in uploading a file, and it does a fairly good job of stepping you through it from there.
Most questions here are resolvable without uploaded databases, but samples can be very useful with trickier issues.

ok, i got it uploaded. thanks.
Hmm - that didn't quite work out. Possibly missed an "ok" or "submit" button somewhere.
Any how, here it is...

this one is still the same - cannot cut/paste that memo field from the Form. did you do something to change the database or the Form?

That answers some of my questions right there.
The database is the same - I just uploaded it because it didn't get attached to your comment when you tried uploading it.
Anyhow, it seemed to work for me - but review my last comment. I might be missing something.

i think it was the rich text formatting, which i did not pay much attention to. changed it to plain text, and the problem is gone!
thanks!

very diligent approach to getting this one solved. -- thanks very much.
I'm glad that worked out :)
Go into your form's design view. In the property sheet for the textbox that is bound to your memo field, verify that:
Locked is set to NO
Enabled is set to YES
If that is not the issue, post a sample of your database if possible.
