Dear Experts,

in windows, if i wanted to access a folder on the file system of a another computer via windows explorer, i would type in the UNC address and it would look something like \\hostname-or-ipaddress\share$\subfolder.

can someone please tell me the equivalent convention when working on ubuntu?

many thanks

Hello,

As far as I know, in order to access other filesystems, they should be mounted. For windows you have to use the CIFS protocol to mount an external drive so you can access it. For Linux filesystems, you can mount via NFS.

You can mount also using NTFS.

Good Luck!

it's just frustrating because everything is such an effort, didn't mean to cause offence. I am still learning that's all.
