How do I setup a VPN using a Cisco RV120W?
I am trying to setup a VPN. I have never set one up before, so I'm not very sure about it. I purchased a Cisco RV120W VPN router, and the router has an ISP-assigned static IP. It is my understanding that this router can be used to setup a router-to-router VPN, and a user-to-router VPN. Currently, I need to only let remote users access my VPN, using the QuickVPN software or another software. In the future, I will need to potentially add 2 offices with the same router to my VPN setup, so that all 3 offices can communicate. The remote users that will connect will rarely be from the same server or IP address. I know that this particular router allows up to 10 simultaneous tunnels. There will potentially be up to 150 total users in this database. I would like people to be able to access this VPN, and then have an internal Intranet site with office-related material on it, as well as allowing people to connect locally to the server so they can get their Active Directory files off the servers. I can handle the local Intranet site, just not the VPN setup.
Here are the screen shots I have:
Basic VPN Setup Screen
IKE Policy Config Screen in the Advanced VPN Setup
VPN Policy Config Screen in the Advanced VPN Setup
VPN Users Screen

Thank you for the suggestions, however, I have reviewed the Cisco Administration guide for the RV120W on their website. I have followed all their steps for using their QuickVPN software, in terms of creating users. I have had no success connecting to the VPN. I know that PPTP is also used by Windows Server, and therefore may be a possible solution, but I was hoping to get a detailed description from someone who either knows, or who has actually set up the RV120W to do the very thing I'm speaking of.
I basically need answers to the following points:
Thank you!
I basically need answers to the following points:
How to correctly set up VPN in the RV120W administration panel to allow users
How to set up the VPN to allows QuickVPN users
Is there a way to use the QuickVPN software (or some software) to default the remote client's web browser to the local Intrant site?
Aside from QuickVPN, are there any free IPSec programs? I need to manage around 150 users connecting into this VPN
Are there any VPN solutions for Apple products? I doubt every remote user will have Windows
I have attached all screenshots of the pages in the Administration panel I am curious about. Please address these pages as they relate to my issues
Thank you!
I will tell you this from years of experience with this unfortunate line of products - They never work right! The RV series of Cisco stuff is carried over from the Linksys Business Series routers and switches.
I have tried with 10s of devices from the RV, RVS, and WRVS products to get VPN to work at all. They work fine as a router or switch but good luck trying to get the VPN to a) work at all, and b) if you can get it to work (which I was able to do a few times) it is very unstable.
Neither IPsec site-to-site nor client access VPN work properly on the RV boxes.
I would recommend to get on eBay and buy an old Cisco PIX 501 or 506 for like $50 or $100 and use that instead for VPN connectivity. It is an enterprise grade box and it will run stably forever.
Let me know if you have any recommendations.
Cheers!

Pugglewuggle, thank you for the suggestion. I have been considering contacting Cisco for a custom-built enterprise solution anyway. Perhaps a far shot, but do you have any contacts that I could use? I've never contacted them before, and have no idea who to get ahold of.
In addition, please tell me if the PPTP on the RV120W, or any of this series, is more stable. Does it work the same way PPTP works on a Windows Server 2003 machine?
Is it your belief that even the QuickVPN system is equally unstable?
Speaking of Windows Server 2003/2008, is the built-in VPN system on the server a good way to do a VPN? The server would have 3 NICs, 2 would have static IPs directly connected to the internet. One NIC has an IP dedicated for web applications (websites, email, etc), and the other external card would be for the VPN, with a separate IP. The 3rd would have a static internal IP on the local network.

Based on your rates, I may be interested in some consulting work. Please contact me over email, jeremyp@cros.net, and provide me some details. I am so concerned about the cost, as this is a relatively small business, that happens to have a total of 3 offices, and 150 agents. I am trying to implement a solution that allows the offices to talk to each other and free exchange of files and information among them, as well as allowing the Intranet site hosted at the main location available locally to the other offices. I also need a free-ware or low-cost solution to allow client access to the VPN from the outside world. Almost all agents work from home. Some probably have MacOS, and may not have or may not be interested in running Windows for Mac, so some sort of VPN solution for Mac is a must. Also, I have never set up a VPN as I stated, but I would like to either have the Intranet site pop-up automatically when the client logs on, or to allow their web browser to surf locally on the company network so they can access the Intranet site. Any solutions you can give me would be helpful.
but for ipsec client(to give access the remote user to use your vpn set up) you may required license..if you don't have.
i am providing one link and one forum help where you can easily setup your vpn easily....cisco guide
