Uninstalling Symantec Antivirus 10.0.1 (SAV) corporate edition

I am trying to uninstall Symantec Antivirus 10.0.1 from a laptop. I have tried to uninstall trough Add/remove Programs and also through the Registry to no avail. The laptop is a member of a domain and its running Win XP. The version of the Antivirus has been removed from the server, the client software that i am trying to remove is only on a number of laptops that users had at home.
After uninstalling from add/remove programme, I am prompted for a password, after entering the correct password, the uninstall programme runs, but  fails towards the end and message that says  the programme has been interrupted pops up. I have tried all sorts of things to no avail.

You will need to download and use the "Norton Remove Tool"...

Available as free download from Symantec here:

I have already tried Norton Removal Tool but it didn`t work. I will try CleanWipe tomorrow morning and get back to you.
CleanWipe wiped out everything that has to do with Symantec.
 Thanks
