vmware connectiong to windows mobile 6 device
I have a vmware workstation 6.0.2 running windows xp.
I am using Visual Studio 2008 Pro and vb.net to develop an app for a windows mobile 6.5 device. The device is a Motorola ES400.
To deploy the solution, I need the vmware workstation to use ActiveSync 4.5 to connect to the device. ActiveSync says the usb is 'available" but doesn't connect to it.
In VS 2008, the instructions say to connect the device and select deploy. But I get the error:
Connect to device failed.
When I connect the device via USB, the main os connects to the device instead of the vmware workstation.
How can I connect using vmware workstation?
Or how can I get my app onto the windows mobile device?
Thanks

when you plug the usb adapter in while the vmware workstation is running the vm it should connect
When you connect the USB device to your HOST computer, and have VMware Workstation started, does it install the VMware Drivers for the Device?
Then in the VM, can you select the VM, Removeable Devices, and does your USB Device appear?

Under the VM menu, you have "Removable Devices". One of those options is the device that you plugged in. Also make sure that you have Windows Mobile Device Center installed on the VM.

Then connect your device while your mouse is active on the VM window. and then select connect.

When I select my device under "Removable Devices", a popup is displayed that says the device will be unplugged from the host and connected to the virtual machine. ActiveSync still doesn't see the device.

Need to deliver solution today so I figured out how to build cab for now.
Will try your solution later this week since I can't afford the time this would take right now.
Is this a guarantee fix or just a hopeful one?
