I have a failrly new toshiba laptopn with windows 7 (satellite A660)
recently it is becoming so slow on bootup and running IE or anything else.
I keep getting a message
Windows detecteed hard disk problem......backup files
Could this be a virus or it could be a real HD issue. is there a way to verify.
I ran some trojan removers and other virus scanners and it seems it fixed some issues but this problem continues.
any advise.

Can you post a screenshot of the error message? Is your 'detedteed' a typo or could this be some virus/trojan being active?

is there a free or windows tool that can scan the disk and confirm there is a disk problem or not?
