Replace "Windows can't open this file" dialog
I need to replace the standard "Windows can't open this file" dialog that is shown on Windows 7 with my own program. If I remember correctly, on WinXP it was possible by modifying the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\* registry key, but it doesn't seem to work on Windows 7.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. On Windows 7, when you double-click a file with an unknown extension, Windows will show up a dialog saying "Windows can't open this file" and offer you to select a program from your computer or search the web. I want to replace that standard Windows dialog with my own dialog!

Well, you could search for the this text value through registry but it does not look like a good idea though.
I'd think that would be ideally to change your code to trap an error state like this. (and show whatever message you want)
hope that helps
