Can't access database from PC

I am trying to hook up to SQL database from a client machine(win7) and am getting the following error.I can connect from a server(2008) fine. On the Win7 pc it doesn't make a difference if i am on as domain admin or not,it still throws up the error. No AV in place on either. Could it be a outgoing firewall issue on win7 pc ?  User generated image

Run the below command from command prompt on the client if its the default port:

TELNET servername 1433

What happens? If you get a blank screen, then SQL Server is listening and you've got something wrong in your client settings. If you get an "Access denied" or "no response"-type answer, it's most likely either a firewall issue or SQL Server isn't listening, but in either case, it's a server issue.

Also check and see  if the TCPIP is enabled in the configuration.
