Host loses internet connection when VPN Traffic sent to VM

I am having a very strange issues.  When I configure a VPN connection on one of my VM's, it connects fine.  However when I try and transfer data via that VPN connection not only does the VM Lose network connectivity but the Host does as well.  When my computer is in a disconnected state I can no longer ping the gateway or any other devices on my network.  I can however ping the VMs Running that are on the same network as the host computer.

I have configured OpenVPN on a windows XP VM. - It connects it's fine, but transfer any data through the VPN (Via the internet)  and both my host computer and VM both lose Netowrk

Windows 2008R2 Standard VM with Hamahich VPN - Same results with the exception I am transfering via the LAN opposed to via the internet.

Computer info:
Host OS: Windows 7 Ulitmate 64 Bit
CPU i7
Ram 18GB
Nic Marvell Yukon 88e8056 PCI-E Driver 11.43.1.3

One more piece of information is that I do have the hamachi VPN clinet (www.logmein.com) loaded on my Host PC and it transfers data just fine to remote clients with no issues

What I have tried to do to resove this.
Disable my Host OS Firewall
Upgrade my Nic Driver to the latest version I could find
Upgraded VMWare Workstation from 7 to 8 (Yes the problem existed in workstation 7)

To resolve the issue and get my computer back on line, I have to either reboot or right click on my Nic on the HOST and disable it then enable it again...

what are you using for virutalization ?

ASKER

VMWare Workstation 8
Okay,

My wild guess here will be that the virtual machines are configured in NAT networking for virtual machines causing double or triple NAT while traffic is exiting from virtual machine to desired point. Maybe you can provide more details about this.

P.
No NAT using bridged
Ok, can you verify that you have enabled and have support for NAT-T ?
