Slow page load time

I'm running a Joomla site at: http://theplantationbelize.com/

I've been getting a few complaints that the site is loading slowly. I compressed all the images and optimized the database tables, but it seems like it's the actual page index.php that is taking the longest time to load.

Does any see something that I might be missing that is causing the extra load time?

Strange btn-search-hover.gif takes about 56 seconds to load, try looking at the network by selecting inspect element in google chrome this

Thanks for the help. There were a ridiculous number of files being loaded into the page. Most of it was caused by the Joomla cache, which doesn't seem to be working properly. After disabling the cache I removed all the extraneous stuff. Also bringing down the image sizes helped.
