Cell phone signal booster advice

I have a home user with a Verizon mobile phone our company provides.  He says he rarely has a signal inside his house, but has one to two bars outside.  He says he can typically get emails and texts, but not phone calls.  He has a DSL connection.  I am typing to decide if I should get him the Verizon Network Extender to hook to his home wireless (http://www.verizonwireless.com/verizon-network-extender.shtml).  Or get him a stand alone non carrier specific cell phone signal booster.  Something like one of these: http://www.buy.com/cat/cell-phone-signal-boosters/68031.html
