Cannot mount or delete exchange store
I was doing some testing with public folders on our exchange server. After creating the store I was unable to mount the store for the first time because of the following errors:
"The store could not be mounted because the Active Directory information was not replicated yet. You can either:
- press Cancel and mount the store later from it's context menu or,
- Press Retry to let the Exchange System Manager keep trying to mount the store for you."
Choosing either option results in the following message:
"The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service could not find the specified object.
ID no: c1041722
Exchange System Manager"
We have multiple domain controllers including three at our three regional offices. We have an exchange server and an owa server as well.
It has been several days since this was created so any replication should have taken place by now. Additionally it did not create the edb and stm files.
At this point, I'm done with my testing and would just like to delete it, however trying to delete it gives the following error:
"The public folder store is presently offline. Exchange Server cannot determine if the public folder store can be safely deleted. Unsafely deleting a public folder store can lead to data loss and loss of essential functionality such as Offline Address List generation and Free/Busy.
Bring the public folder store online and try again. If you cannot bring the public folder store online, and you want to delete it, manually remove the public store .edb and .stm database files from your computer, recreate the public folder store by remounting the database, and then try deleting the public folder store again."
Obviously since the files weren't created, I can't delete them, and since I can't mount the store, I can't delete it either. Any ideas for fixing this?

All dcdiag tests pass on all DC's. Replmon looks good as well. I'd suspected that a restart of Exchange might be in order but wanted to cover my bases before going that route. I'll be scheduling a restart during our maintenance window and will report back when it is complete. Thanks for the help.

No luck on the reboot. The same issue exists.
It looks like I can remove it using ADSI Edit. I'm not familiar with this tool, but it looks about as powerful as regedit, in that I can remove it and/or completely destroy my server at the same time.
As I don't see any replicas and it's never been mounted it looks to be fairly straight forward. I'm going to do some more research in the morning and see what I can come up with before I pull the trigger on ADSI Edit.

Please go to properties of PF store and stop the replication schedule..
Start to mounting the PF stores.

On the replication tab, I have the repliction interval set to "Never run." Is this what you are talking about?

Now my problems have caused another issue. I am using backupexec 2010 for our backup software. It of course will fail by not being able to back up this store. Due to this, the log files are building up as they aren't being cleared upon successful backup. I've excluded this store however the log files are still not being cleaned.

I lied, I couldn't just walk away from it at this point.
Based on several articles, but most specifically this one:
http://www.networksteve.com/exchange/topic.php/Deleting_Public_Folder_Database/?TopicId=13401&Posts=0
I was able to remove the public folcers by the following:
OpenESM on the server you want to remove the public folders from. Then go to Administrative Group, Folders, Public Folders. Right click on Public Folders and click on "View System Folders".
Once that is done note what is listed under Administrative Group, ServerName, Storage Group, Public Folder Store, Public Folders.
Then go back to "Administrative Group, Folders,Public Folders" and delete what you noted.
You should then be able to delete the public store.
Remember if you dismount and remount the public store these default folders will be recreated and you will have to do this again.

Closing this now that the problem is solved.
1- double check your AD configuration and replication.
Exchange database configuration are stored in the Active directory "Configuration" partition which is forest-wide.
Run DCDIAG.EXE ou REPLMON.EXE (included in Windows "Support Tools") on all Domain controler to check AD replication error
2- restart Exchange Services (System attendant and Information store Services ) or reboot Exchanger server to force Exchange to reload AD configuration.
