Strange backup errors
I am getting the following errors in backup logs. It is a Win2008 R2 server using the built-in server backup program to an external USB HD.
There are 3 different HDs included in the back up jobs that are rotated nightly.
Everything else on the server seems to be OK.
Error in backup of D:\ during read: Error [0x80070057] The parameter is incorrect.

OK. I have just done several Google searches for "long file names" "wbengine.exe" "Windows Server 2008" "patch" etc, etc
I come up with nothing at all related. There seems to be no mention of such a patch or a problem. So, I am not entirely sure what to ask for...
Also, when I include "Error [0x80070057]" and " Error [0x8007007b]", the suggested culprits and recommended fixes are very different.
Are you sure about your solution?

You can discuss with Microsoft and they can better explain about all Pro and Cons of using it.
I dont think it would be harmful if provided by Microsoft itself :)
I think we can all trust them on hotfixes :)

There were new errors in this mornings report. The backup status showed "failed", and the error shows "D: The device is not ready"
But the list of files backed up for last night looked pretty complete.
Viewing the list of all failed files shows this:
Error in backup of D:\Data\ACT\Email\Local ACT! Folders\mpslinecardA6-063. pdf during write: Error [0x8007048f] The device is not connected.
Error in backup of D:\Data\ACT\Email\Local ACT! Folders\mpslinecardA6-063. pdf during write: Error [0x80070015] The device is not ready.
Is this a related issue to the long files problem?

Can you please still answer my last comment?

Thank for for the comment.
If a patch is required, it is not clear how we get it. Not sure what you mean by "registered email account". Please clarify?
