I am working on setting up some previously configured Miktrotik wireless devices that have been used int the past. &nbsp;They were used together to provide wireless access in an area in a building. It appears a virtual AP was configure and it is using AP bridge mode. &nbsp;In winbox I see the others configured as WDS. &nbsp;So WDS is the method of extending the AP to other devices at layer 2?<br />

I am trying to better understand the theory or operation and interaction between the virtual ap and the devices using WDS.<br />

Mikrotik wireless setup overview

A router is a networking device that forwards data packets between computer networks. Routers perform the "traffic directing" functions on the Internet.
