asked on
why is my laser mouse flickering on some websites?
I have a USB laser mouse, years old.
Today, it started to flicker on some websites.
The "arrow" and the "index finger."
I can right click and move the flickering mouse and see the light blue area go down to copy or paste, etc.
So the mouse is operational.
It's not acting up on EE or Windows Mail.
I just went to a site called Hot Coupon World and it began flickering.
Now that I come back here, it is doing it again.
When I am in this box where I am typing this text, there is the vertical "large I" and it is flickering.
If I go out of this box, it's the arrow that is flickering.
I am using the flickering and hard to follow "arrow" to choose 250 points for this question.
If I leave the webpage and go down to the tool bar at the bottom, or the minimized browers down there, the arrow stops moving, and is normal.
If I go to the top of the webpages, it flickers.
If I try to click on B for "bold" I see the "index finger" and it is flickering.
It is not flickering where moving around the desktop or Windows Mail.
Any ideas?
Revised:
now it is fine on EE.
Not fine on other sites, so if it was the mouse, itself, wouldn't it act up on all sites?

from that link and discussion:
4. Reinstall the mouse driver. First, close all running programs, then:
5. Go to the Device Manager and select your mouse. Uninstall it and then restart your computer. During restart, your mouse driver will automatically be reinstalled.

From where will Windows get the driver for my mouse?
The mouse is ancient, Keio NO3
However, the flickering has not re-occurred since 11-8-11.

adding points.
The flickering, which has not happened since, did not prevent me from taking actions like:
copy
paste
open
close
It just made it harder, as the mouse arrow was invisible most of the time.
An example was copy/paste.
When I got the invisible-non invisible and flickering arrow on the word "copy" the area around the word, turned light blue in color, letting me know my wild mouse had found the word "copy." Click and copy was done.
My error, this is not a USB mouse, but it is very old.
It is probably time to get a new one.
