I need a replacement for Novell rights.exe program for Windows 7 x64
I need a replacement program for the old 16 bit Novell rights.exe program which will run in a Windows 7 32/64 bit environment and can handle long file/folder names.
Preferably something free or minimal cost but not over $100

cacls.exe and its free from MS
Do you need to change rights on a Netware server? If so (and that's what i presume) cacls won't work, as it is a Microsoft tool.
What are you trying to accomplish that you need to change rights so often that it justifies a command line tool?

I am trying to change rights for folders and/or files on a network (Netware) server, which we are mapped to. The program would need to run from a Windows 7 x64 box.
OK, i get that. But why do you need rights.exe and why can't you do this from the windows explorer?

Because this is a client based program that temporarily sets the rights for the user in order for them to be able to access the file they need. The client program calls the rights.exe program and uses command line switches to perform the temporary rights change. This is of course based on a database that the program also uses to see that the user should be able to do what they want to do. I intend to switch out the rights.exe program with something that can do the same thing. I realize the command line switches might be different but likely similar.

I was told this utility doesn't actually work on a Windows 7 x64 OS. It runs but doesn't change rights.

After further review and testing, it does appear that lrights.exe will work in a Windows 7 x64 environment.
