Howto disconnect all outlook clients from the Exchange server using the Firewall
We are migrating to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003
As you may know you initiate a mailbox migration from the 2010 server, in order for this to be successful the user MUST have closed down outlook (closing their connection to the old exchange server)
I want to know the ports used in outlook in order to connect to exchange so i can temporarily block these using the windows firewall which should disconnect all outlook clients that are still connected
I do however need the old server running still on the network in order for mailbox migration to work
I could initiate a remote shutdown of all PCs but this sometimes fails, so i'm hoping it can be d one this way
Thanks in advance

Are the users local within the network or connected via RPC over HTTP/S?
ASKER
local within the network
Create new Smtp connector and block the emails in Delivery Restriction Tab
