Active Directory NTDS Settings

Hi All,

I am going through the pain of decommissioning an old Domain Controller, I have moved all the FSMO roles over to a different machine but there is one thing I am not sure of.

When I go into AD Sites & Services and look at the properties of the NTDS settings my new machines (there are two of them) are still down as replicating from the old DC, is this automatically populated or should I manually change this to a newer machine, as the older one is going to go off in a couple of weeks.

Thanks

You need to clean up Sites and Services manually and then move the new DC into proper Site.

Thanks,

Is there anything other than the NTDS settings that I need to be aware of?
If you have a new server in the same site. Make it a bridgehead server. Creating links between your other sites isnt needed by default but if you've disabled auto generation  of connections you will have to.
Yup, you need to also manually clean up DNS records for host (A) - Forward lookup zone and (PTR) - reverse lookup zone

Then if you properly did metadata cleanup, that's all :)

Ok thanks,

I am still confused though, as I can change the "replicate to" setting but not the "replicate from" setting.

I have two sites with one DC in each, I want them to be able to replicate correctly.

I don't think a bridgehead server is neccessary as there will be one DC on each site.
