Two identical PCs with Adobe CS 4 but one cannot print unless images are they are flattened?

I have a very strange issue- Two identical HP Quad-Cores with 12gb of RAM running Windows 7 - all of a sudden one of the PCs now cannot print large images. Adobe Photoshop crashes after hitting Print. The printer prints out a Syntax Error. and that's it. The other PC prints the file just fine. The only temporary solution we found was to flatten each image before printing and then it works fine.

It is either a software problem, harddrive problem, or printer connection problem but maybe someone can save me the trouble of trial and error?

Thanks in advance.

I would try renaming the Local Users Photoshop Prefs folder found here C:\Users\CurrentUsername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4.

You could find it's something as simple as corrupt prefs!

this was just a workaround and not the answer to why this started happening?
In addition to the Windows\Temp folders Photoshop uses free disk space on all hard disks for opening, editing and printing large files, storing Undo data, etc.

By default PS uses only the free space on C drive where the OS is loaded. Temp folders on C drive (under Windows and User directories) can be filled up by other apps and will need to be emptied from time to time.

Compare the free space on C drive on both PCs and levels of Undo under Preferences.
