Windows cannot locate the roaming profile on 3 out of 4 citrix servers

Hi Experts,

I have a wierd one here, some of my citrix users have been getting the following message when they logon:

Windows cannot locate the server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with your local profile. Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server when you logoff. Possible causes of this error include network problems or insufficient security rights. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.

it appears to be happening with three out of four servers in the farm. One which is behaving allright happens to be the data colletor as well.

I have deleted the profiles but it only recreates the profile when I logon through the good server otherwise it doesnt create user profile from the other three servers and spits out the local profile message.

I have changed the data collector and logged on with the same user on that server and it gave me the right profile. I am still waiting for couple of users to log off so I can restart all my citrix servers and test it on each server.

Changing the data collector should solve the issue?
Do I need to restart citrix servers after changing the data collector?
Do I need to wait for all users to log off for a server to get updated without restarting it?

it also worked on another citrix server but didnt work on one server; reasons could be 1. their's a user logged on to it. 2 I hav'nt rebooted it yet.

the Citrix DataCollector has noting to do with the roaming profiles.

The location for the roaming profile are set at ADUC - UserSettings or via GPO.
if the user receive a temporary profile it seems the server know of the roaming profile but didnt found it.
are the path accessible / the name-resolution ok (DNS/WINS)?

Thanks for your reply dkotte,

funny part is I changed the data collector and now new data collector is giving right profile and the old data collector has started giving temp profile. at the moment two out of four servers are giving right profiles.

I am starting to think it could be network related as well. it was working fine till last week. only change I have done is add another file server and made it a part of dfs replication and add a new RIS server.
if possible  do " gpresult /r" within the session.
at the user part are tomething about the roaming prifile path.

I compared gpresult from two sessions one with right profile and other with temp profile, its exactly the same.

Profile path is same too
at the eventlog should be something about the problems loading the profile
We have been chasing a simular problem for over two weeks now

Guys I have logged another question in Networking zone as well to get some tips on Switch troubleshooting if that helps.

ID: 27464978
try this:
disabe "check if the user are the owner of the profile" within GPO's.

Hi guys,

Sorry couldn't respond before, latest update is I deleted all the old profiles from the citrix servers and rebooted the servers again,.

That has given me 3/4 ratio.. 3 serer are giving good profiles and just one server is giving temp profile.

dkotte: I still hav'nt disabled the gpo you suggested but I will tomm and update you with the outcome.
