Which console to buy - xbox or ps3.
I have not played a console type video game since the early 1990s (doom) and now i would like to get aconsole so I can play Skyrim. But which console should I buy for this? Whick is better? Xx or Play Station3.

To add, I have a PS3 and am very happy with my choice. Although I haven't played an Xbox much.

Thanks for the posts. I like first person shooters, fantasy games, war games, real time strategy and the like. I don,t care for sports games, car racing games or wii style interactive games.
I don't think there's many RTS games on either console. Heaps of FPS's for both. I'd go the PS3.

we have both PS3 and Xbox 360. We play 95% on Xbox and my son plays his Gran Turismo 5 on PS3, though,not so much anymore since >Forza 4 went out.
If you like to play online, I think Xbox has more to offer thought it is not free.But for us, it is worth it.
On many sites they showed that Xbox has better graphics (don't want to start flame wars. I saw this by myself,so...). Controller is also more hand friendly than the one from Sony. And Xbox also has Kinect which might be interesting also.
On the other hand PS3 has BluRay drive so that you can watch BRs. Again, you can rent HD movies on Xbox, so it covers kind a HD movies. Also, both devices work fine as media clients and I can watch my movies from our NAS on both devices.
For me, Xbox 360 wins as the gaming experience is just a little bit better. You should know that new consoles will show up in 2012 (probably at the end of the 2012).If it is not urgent, wait for the sales, you will be able to buy pack with console and games for cheap.

And I forget, if you want ultimate console, than you should buy a PC.

You can either build a PC or buy complete systeme or as I did, buy laptop with good graphics card and there you go.
True, it is more complex, it cost more upfront, but is is worth it.
PS: For PS3 I forget to say,since it is BD rom, you can one disc only and on Xbox,lately you get 2-3 disc depends on game. It is not big deal as you can copy it to HD(if you have one) so you don't have to swap discs when playing.
