Virus/malware infection on a Win XP dell laptop
One of our users had his laptop infected by a number of virus and malware. I managed to remove most of them including Google Redirect, however it seems its still infected. I used Rkill in combination with Malware Bytes and Symantec.
Now the problem is that all programmes including the contents of the C; drive are hidden, when you go to start, all programmes there are no programme listed, if you open the C: drive its completely empty.
Everything appears when you configure windows explorer such that it shows Hidden Folders and Files. Also all programmes, folders and files appear faded as if they are hidden files. The letters labelling the C: drive are in blue instead of the normal black.
Does anyone no how I can resolve this issue other than a restore?
