Why is Installation black Screen occuring

I have an old 8303-21u  by IBM  ( Lenovo)      I wanted to put a fresh install of XP PRO SP3 on it.  When I put the cd in it starts up but you never see the part about hitting F5 etc... for drivers, the screen remains blank until it gets to the Part where it asks if you want to do a repair or install Windows.   The install goes great until it reboots  but then  the screen comes back black.   I have gone into the bios and used  the onboard video....  but no luck anyway I try.  I tried a different Install CD  and even swapped the CD ROM out.....    Has anyone run into this before.? What was your solution?

maybe BIOS issue , try to reset BIOS to default settings , remove any CD's from Driver and retry

Did you wipe the harddrive before trying to install? You do get the 'normal' windows installation screens, right?

Can you boot the machine to Windows Safe mode?

Start machine and hit F8, F10 or F12 (not sure what key on Lenovo) to select Safe Mode with Networking. If you can get to Safe mode Windows does not have the right Drivers loaded. Download them in Safe mode and update them.

Mez     I am trying to do a fresh  XP PRO SP3 Install... so there would be no drivers being loaded accept what ever the install disk was loading....   and gerwin...   No  I don't get normal install windows until it gets to the part where it asks if you are doing a repair or install..... etc.....

I did reset bios  but no luck......

listen  just to simplified the problem can you boot from XP CD? will you see the loading process?

I use the XP CD TO Boot into The Install process.   The first part of the Install doesn't appear at all,  Nothing on Video Display until The Part that asks you if you want to repair or install.....   So I am missing out on the very first part of the install ....      When i proceed from where I can see it goes along fine installing until reboot and the display is black again.        I think I might need the driver for the on board video but unfortunately that is the part of the Install disk that starts black on this computer.   So you can't see where it asks you for the 3rd party drivers.
