Cannot connect to SQL Express

I installed SQL express on my PC and also have  VS 2008 so I use SQL express for developing when I reboot my computer everything is great but if I don't use it for a few hours I can't connect to the DB through both VS or SSMS.
I have went and tried to start the SQL Service again but it will not start and I have to reboot my computer again then it works great until the next time I leave it alone for a few hours.

Does anybody have any ideas what causes this.
Thanks in advance

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can check the event viewer to get knowledge of what is happening at that point of time. Apart from that, make the service automatic start so that whenever it is closing you don't have to start it manually.

Also check if there is any rule setup at firewall level.
Apart from that you would also like to enable TCP\IP.

I honestly don't know what has happen, I have check everything you mention except the Firewall and strangely I don't remember changing anything but my development computer has been running now for 4 days without being rebooted and I can still use SQL express.
I'm sure I must of done something in your notes without realising so I can only think of one fair way and that is to split the points
