Dell Inspiron 5010 Stalls at win7 starting windows screen

I have a customer laptop Dell Inspiron 5010. When Starting up it stalls at the starting windows screen and there is a varigated color bar approx 1/4 inch wide at the top of the LCD it does not show the loading bar. I did a factory recovery and the same thing. I ran Eurosofts PC check and it shows no problemas with the video card, hard drive, motherboard nor memory. Anyone have any suggestions.

You should run the Dell diagnostics from a Dell Diagnostic CD.

Don't have one
Sorry don't know what I was thinking been up for 3 days at hospital with son. Created a diag disk and running now

is the barr still showing when booted from the cd?   then you have a bad video card, or screen

None of the photos in ur suggestion appear to be the same as my problem right now I am running the Dell Diags and the screen looks perfectly fine. Good color nice and bright and no signs of any problems.  I at first thought video card or LCD screen. I will repost after I have completed the Dell Diag. test.
if the dell diag is ok, it is probably a software problem
you can test if it is ok in safe mode, or try the latest known good
you can also post a picture, so we can see it
The dell diag was fine no problems. The only software on the laptop is the original factory restore which I did from the restore partition.I have included a couple of photos on where I tried to enter safe mode and one where I tried to just start normally. User generated image User generated image

This is as far as it will boot, the top is normal startup and the bottom pic is in safe mode even after I did a factory restore. There is a multi colored line near the top of the screen and yes it is the same on an external screen.

I believe that nobus is correct in his assumption that the hard drive is defective even though I was unable to confirm this and the laptop I found out is still under warranty. So I told owner to send it back to Dell for repairs.
tx for feedback; and yes  -if still warranty, no need for troubleshooting
