Software to draw a API process

I have been hired to work in QA for a software application. I'm not a developer nor will I be on the project. I'm responsible to draw up processes for an API we are writing for an ERP application. My background is Application requirement consulting so QA is somewhat new to me.

Can someone recommend what software I could use for drawing processes/system functions?

I would prefer open source but I'm also willing to paid for good software to do the job.

Not sure what kind of drawing you are trying to develop.

Have you looked at MS Visio which you may already have as part of Office.

I was wondering if there is some thing out there highly specialized for drawing software functions and processes. By highly specialized I mean you could plug in data/numbers/records and it would do the drawing for you. Perhaps that is too much to ask for.

Yes I do have Visio and if I can't find anything else I will use it for this.
