Is it possible to remotely sync a physical system with a duplicate virtual instance?
We would like to duplicate a critical server and have it run as a virtual instance using a Hyper V server. Is there an application available that will sync files that have changed every 5 - 15 minutes so that the system can have 100% uptime in the event of a disaster? Currently we are backing the system up to a server that has the ability to perform a bare-metal restore. The challenge is that the restore process takes 2-3 hours and we are looking for a solution that would allow us just to make a DNS change to point to the virtual instance in the event of a system crash, etc...
I have looked at r-sync, but am interested in getting feedback for a solution that is best for a Windows server. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a good open source solution available? We already have the backup and virtual infrastructure in place. If there's a good reliable tool available that doesn't cost $$$ that would be perfect.
What does your server do? A solution for Exchange is different from SQL which is different from file servers. Double-Take from Vision solutions will write all changes from one server to another in real time asynchronously, but it is pretty expensive. Heroware will also do that because it is built on Double-Take, but I have heard that it is cheaper. If you are just doing file sharing, DFS-Replication ir rsync might do enough of what you need, and they are free.
