I am getting the following error in event log everytime I  restart server.

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:      MSExchangeAL
Event Category:      LDAP Operations
Event ID:      8026
Date:            04/12/2011
Time:            8:48:37 AM
User:            N/A
Computer:      NTSERVER
Description:
LDAP Bind was unsuccessful on directory server.domainx.local for distinguished name ''. Directory returned error:[0x34] Unavailable.

Any suggestions as to cause and how to reslove?

I have come across a recommendation to try and add the correct subnet within sites under sites and services but I am not sure if this is right or how to do this?

This error repeats every 1 hour and 1 minute.

If you can comment on this fine otherwise I can post in seperate question?
This error is completely unrelated to the other error.  It's basically saying that it can't contact "DG834Gv5" for whatever reason.  This error usually indicates a problem connecting to another exchange server, but since you have sbs, you shouldn't have another exchange server...

Do you know what DG834Gv5 is?  What happens when you ping DG834Gv5?
My apologies for late reply.

DG834Gv5 is a Netgear internet gateway/firewall setup to work in DMZ and when I ping I get normal reply.

There are three branch offices which also run SBS2003 boxes but they are not setup to comminucate with the server in question (main office exchange server).
We just have the branch offices client computers access their mailboxes via main office.

Actually as I write this I have thought of a possibe corelation - I recently setup some backup software to send me notification messages (the incremnetal backups runs every hour).
I am having trouble getting the messages out of exchange (due to an authentication error) and maybe this is why I am seeing this error every hour?
Well, it sounds like something on your Exchange server is configured to look at DG834Gv5, why don't you try going into regedit on the server and searching for DG834Gv5 and see what comes up?

I would suspect maybe you have it set to look at the router for DNS maybe?  if so, you should be using the DNS server on the SBS server, not on the router.
I checked regedit but no reference found to DG834Gv5

The network is configured to use SBS for DNS

Not sure how to check exchange DNS settings?
Thank youi
