Visual Studio 2010 - Uninstall Pro - Install Ultimate - still shows Pro splash screen

PC: Win 7 Enterprise x64
Did Uninstall of 2010 Professional using VS2010_Uninstall-RTM.ENU.exe.
I used the Complete option  (VS2010_Uninstall-RTM.ENU.exe /full /netfx)
Then did an install of 2010 Utlimate.
when I start Ultimate the Professional Splash screen is displayed.
What is needed to get a clean install where everything works?
Thanks

I've had the same problem in the past, and it can be a nightmare trying to resolve. From your description, it's obvious that part of the old system is staying in place after the install, and it's preventing the right component from being installed. On occasion I've simply reinstalled the OS to get a clean machine.

But you shouldn't have to do that. If you can manually delete all of the VS files after the uninstalled, and then install with the Ultimate CD, that should be sufficient to fix the problem.

VS installs itself in several different directories depending on the OS you are running. On Windows 7 these are the directories I would look for and delete, if they were still present after an uninstall:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0 (go back one level if you don't have older versions of VS installed)
C:\ProgramData\VS\vs10sp1 (again you can go back a level if this is the only folder there)
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0 (this is another you can go back a level for)
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0 (ditto here)
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Team Foundation
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VSCommon\10.0 (and here)
C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Settings

There are a few other directories that could be deleted for VS, but I don't think they would cause a reinstallation problem like you have described.
