Apache Server 'Stalling'

Hello,

I have an apache server and every week or so it just 'stalls' the server is still up and if I try to go to a page it just 'hangs', I can go to ssh and the login process takes about 10 minutes.

I just have to restart the server and it works fine again, it does not seem to slow down before it 'stalls' I just go to it one minute and its fine and the next its down.

I would love any help with either what it could be or how to test it.

Thanks,
Matt

I'd guess it's a memory leak. Does it's memory image keep rising during the week?

When You log in(10 minutes) run 'free' or 'top' to see if Your server is not short on resources(swap, memory, cpu) and possibly who is hogging those.

It seems something eating your CPU resources. You can monitor the running process and memory usage using the following command.

top -c

It will display the current running process. Now press " Shift key + m " to sort the list using memory usage and "  Shift key + p " to sort using process usage.
