messed up server migration
Okay guys here's a good one...my overall goal is to replace a 2003 server with a 2008r2 box. No exchange, just AD, DNS, DHCP, and file sharing.

I followed all of the instructions and now neither the new or old DC can seem to find the Domain. I believe I may have tried to delete/force remove the old domain before replication was complete...I didn't realize it until I had already run it and things started screwing up. I wish there was a way I could monitor it so I'd know when replication was complete -- or I could be completely wrong about it. I unplugged the power cord to the old server right when I started the dcpromo /forceremove on the old server and now things are just weird. If I set the old server's DNS to it's own IP and the new servers DNS to the old server's IP then I can get the Active Directory Users and Computers to populate -- but if I change any of those settings or if both boxes aren't online at the same time then I can't get that to populate and the DC "disappears". Now, it seems like both DCs can't see the domain, yet I can populate the users/computers list. I'm almost to the point where I will recreate the domain and rejoin all computers and recreate all users, unless one of you can bless me with some knowledge. The new server has all of the roles and if I run the check on them, the new server name has all of the roles. BUT, if I run dcdiag on the new server, this is what I get:

Yes, only a single server environment. Only 15-20 users. I didn't check/run the backups before I started (idiot) but if possible will roll back my changes and restart everything. If not, I will recreate. Thanks for your response.

I would consider restoring your System State on the Old DC, if you have a good backup of before you started anything). Rollback the AD to before you started.
Then try the process again and give plenty of time during steps (for replication, etc).
