Random connectivity issues to Ubuntu OpenVPN Server(HyperV virtual machine)

I've looked through the logs and can't find what the problem may be. As stated in the title this is a hyper v virtual machine. There have been two instances where the server has become unresponsive on the network. Both times I've been able to console in via the hyper v manager and properly reboot it which fixes it but can't seem to find why this is hapenning in the logs. Has anyone else run into this problem or can tell me what I may be able to look for that could be causing this problem?

You need to investigate what has happened next time, rather than reboot. Match up a tcpdump session inside the VM with one outside when doing something simple that usually works (telnet, ftp, ssh or whatever).
A shot in the dark - could there be 2 VMs in existence with the same IP address?

There are hotfixes related to networking for Hyper-V 2008 R2, and Hyper-V 2008 R2 SP1. They get applied on the host. I don't know what version of Hyper-V you are running, but do a  google search for them. They do require a reboot of the host. The hard part is knowing that there are hotfixes for your issue. Finding them is easy.
