Vmware workstation 8 - Unable to power up virtual machines

Hello,

Two days ago I've tried to create a new virtual machine for sbs 2008 evaluation.
when I try to power on the vm a dialog box appears with the text "internal error "
Then I tried to power up other virtual machine I had installed and the same dialog box popped up.
currently I have my server 2008 R2 running in VM and I am afraid to turn it off..
I have looked every where .. couldn't find a clue.
